बस्तर के मुर्गा लड़ाई काफी प्रसिद है।और मुर्गा लड़ाई देखने के लिए गांव सहर से लोग आते है।यह मुर्गा लड़ाई बस्तर में हर साप्ताहिक बाजार हाट (मेले ,जात्रा )पर किया जाता है।
मुर्गों को मैदान में उतारने से पहले लगातार मुर्गा लड़ाई स्थल पर ले जाया जाता है।उन्हे जंगली जड़ी बूटी दाना पानी पिलाकर युद्ध के लिए तैयार किया जाता है। लकड़ी बांस और कंटीले तारों से घिरे इस बाड़े को कुकड़ा गाली कहा जाता है। कुकड़ा गाली में जाने के बाद एक मुर्गा ही जीवित वापस लौटता है। मुर्गा लड़ाई का एक दांव 10 से 15 मिनट तक चलता है। इसी बीच दर्शक दांव लगाते हैं। लड़ाकू मुर्गे मैदान में छोड़ते ही एक दूसरे पर उड़कर आक्रमण करने का प्रयास करते हैं। कई बार प्रतिद्वंद्वी मुर्गे का गला कट जाता है। बस्तर के कुछ इलाकों खासकर दंतेवाड़ा और बीजापुर में यह परंपरा अब भी बस्तर में कायम है। मुर्गा लड़ाई देखने वालो की सख्या हजारो में रहती है। मुर्गा को जड़ी बूटी खिलाई जाती है। इससे घायल होने के बाद भी मुर्गे मैदान में डटे रहते हैं।
