कुत्ता एक भेड़िया कुल की प्रजाति है,यह मनुष्य पालतु पशुओ में से एक है।इसके मादा को कुतिया और शावक को पिल्ले कहते है,इसका जीवन काल लगभग 12 वर्ष तक का होता है।एवं यह जीव मानव समाज के बीच रहता है,और यह सर्वाहारी जीव है।ज्यादा तर रिसर्च रिपोर्ट के अनुसार कुत्तो को काफी चतुर बताया गया है,कुछ रिसर्च ने तो उन्हें बुद्धिमान माना है।कुत्ता इनसान का सबसे वफादार जानवर होते है,कई लोग मानते है,की कुत्ता उनका मूड भाप लेता है।जब वेज्ञानिको कहा कि है कि आवाज में छुपी भावना को पहचाने में कुत्ता और इनसान का दिमाग एक जैसा होता है।

कुत्ते को हिन्दू देवता भैरव महाराज का सेवक माना जाता है।कुत्ते को भोजन देने से भैरव महारज प्रसन्न होते है।और हर तरह के संकटों से वे भक्त की रक्षा करते है,कुत्ते को प्रसन्न रखने से वह आपके आस पास यमदुत को भी नही फटकने देते है,कुत्ते को देख कर हर तरह की आत्माये दूर भाग जाते है।दरसल कुत्ता एक ऐसा प्रडी है।जो भविष्य में होने वाली घटनाओं और ईथर माध्यम की आत्माओं को दिखने की छमता रखता है।कुत्ता कई की.मी. दूर तक कि गंध सुग सकता है।कुत्ते को हिन्दू धर्म मे एक रहस्यमय प्रडी माना गया है। कुत्ता हर तरह की खतरे को पहले ही भांप लेता है, प्राचीन और मध्य काल मे पहले लोग कुत्ता अपने साथ इसलिए रखते थे, ताकी वे जंगली जानवर लुटेरो भूत आदि से बच सके।आदिवासी लोग कुत्ते को पालते थे कि वो हर तरह के खतरे से पहले ही सतर्क हो जाये।भारत के जंगल मे रहने वाले साधु-संत भी कुत्ता इसलिए पालते थे, ताकि कुत्ता उनको खतरे के प्रति सतर्क कर दे आज कल लोग घर मे कुत्ता इस कारण से रखते है,की वह उनके घर की चोरो से रक्षा कर सके।
